Figura Avulsa is delighted to present Tracey Leaving, a performance and installation of recent works by Leylâ Gediz, opening Sunday July 14, 4-7pm. The performance, a reading accompanied by Cihan Kivanc on guitar, is set to start at 5.45pm.

Gediz’s work is about recomposing the world from the standpoint of what is usually kept out of the frame, drawing attention to what constitutes the support structures of everyday life and painting as a practice.  Semi-autobiographical, socio-political narratives guide her complex arrangements that may include physical objects or images of people that are poignant in her life and offer a point of reflection for the viewer. Through her subtle painterly composition, Leylâ Gediz conveys an unstable, strange, and hybrid reality that hovers in that fragile zone between fiction and non-fiction.
